  • Currently accepted helmet standards:

    2022 UPDATE:

2010-dated helmets must be retired and replaced! See our partners at Discovery Parts for great options

To participate in a Chin Track Days track event, a driver and/or passenger MUST use a helmet that meets SNELL or FIA standards. Currently, the following certifications are accepted:

    SA2020

    SA2015

    M2020

    M2015

    FIA 8858-2020

    FIA 8859-2020

    FIA 8860-2020

Open face and full face are both acceptable, If a driver is using an open-cockpit car, full-face is appropriate.

Chin Track Days has rental helmets available at most events. Rental fee is $20. Our rental helmets are in full compliance; however, they are open-face: suitable for use only in closed cockpit cars.

Helmets with SNELL certification older than 2015 are NOT ACCEPTED.
SNELL '2010' is so out-of-date that you should put soil in it and use it as a planter.

Helmets that have only a 'DOT' certification DO NOT MEET MINIMUM standards for motorsports. Please see other postings in this forum for additional details on SNELL certifications and helmet shelf life.
